Leo’s oil paintings are painted on primed board. As with his watercolours Leo builds up layers but drying of these layers can’t be sped up by a hair dryer. Depending on the thickness of the oil paint it can take up to a couple of weeks to dry.
“When painting in watercolour you need some sort of a plan, but with oil painting anything goes. You can scrub out and cover over any unsuccessful areas and be much more intuitive and experimental”.
Leo frames his oils in simple wooden Nicholson frames in various hand painted Farrow and Ball colours from Black to Pointing.
